Payment Processing Policy
Accepted payment methods
We accept major credit/debit cards and accelerated checkout options, including:
- Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
- Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay
- PayPal
- Gift cards or store credit (when available)
If a payment method is unavailable at checkout, it may be temporarily disabled for security or maintenance.
Currency & pricing
- All prices are shown and charged in USD unless otherwise noted at checkout.
- For customers paying in a non-USD currency, your bank or provider sets the exchange rate and may apply foreign transaction fees.
Sales tax, VAT & duties
- Applicable sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address.
- International orders may be subject to duties, VAT, and import fees collected by the carrier or local customs. These charges are the customer’s responsibility and are not collected by Electrum Ink.
Authorization & capture
- Most orders are charged at the time of purchase.
- In some cases, your bank may place a temporary authorization hold; final capture occurs when your order begins processing or ships (within our 3-business-day processing guarantee).
- If an authorization fails, your order will not be created or will be placed on hold until payment is updated.
Processor fees on refunds/cancellations
- If you cancel before shipment or we issue a refund to an unshipped order, please note that third-party payment processor fees (e.g., card networks/PayPal) are non-refundable to us and will be deducted from your refund.
- This also applies to chargebacks or canceled orders due to suspected fraud.

Order verification & fraud prevention
To protect customers and our brand, we use AVS/CVV checks, risk screening, and (where applicable) 3-D Secure. We may request additional verification (e.g., a matching billing address, ID confirmation, or a new payment method).
- Orders that fail verification may be canceled and refunded (less non-refundable processor fees if the order is unshipped).
- Multiple failed attempts or mismatched details can trigger automatic holds.
Payment security
- Checkout is protected by SSL/TLS encryption.
- We process payments through PCI-DSS compliant providers.
- Electrum Ink does not store full card numbers or CVV codes on our servers.
Preorders, backorders & split shipments
- If a product is sold as a preorder/backorder, we’ll note the expected timeline on the product page.
- Your card may be charged at purchase to reserve inventory, or at shipment depending on the payment method.
- For split shipments, charges may be captured at the time of the first shipment (or per shipment where required by your provider).
Gift cards & store credit
- Refunds, when eligible, are issued to the original payment method. If this is not possible, we may offer store credit or a gift card.
- Gift cards and store credit are not redeemable for cash, except where required by law.
Failed or late payments
- If a payment is declined, please use another method or contact your bank for assistance.
- We cannot ship orders until payment is successfully captured.
Disputes & chargebacks
If there’s an issue with your order, please contact us first so we can help—most problems are resolved fastest that way.
